Submit Content
So you want to write an article for the Astro Mag, eh?
Good! The Mag is only able to keep publishing issues because hobbyists contribute content, whether they be Tactics articles, artwork, fiction, painting tips or a myriad of other things.
Here are some tips that will make our work easier:
1) Subject line. Use it to good effect in your email. Here are some suggestions– “[Pick one: Conversion, Painting, Review, Tactics, Sculpting] Article”, “Artwork”, “[insert name of contest] Contest Entry”, “Fiction”. This helps to keep the Mag’s inbox organized and easier tallying of what we do have (losing an article in the cracks would be very bad!).
2) Take ten minutes or so and proofread what you’re submitting (things like artwork might not need this). Make sure things are formatted correctly (bold, underline, capitalization, etc) and grammar/spelling followed.
3) Please type up your article in Microsoft Word or export into a .doc/.docx file format. This establishes a solid baseline for article format, which makes assembling them much nicer.
4) Pictures. Invariably, you will have some pictures to go along with your article. Please attach them separately in the email as separate files or in a .zip; don’t insert them into the article. Make a note where each picture is supposed to go and we’ll take care of the rest. The preferred format for pictures is .jpeg.
Now, where do you send your article? Why, to the Astro Mag’s email account: theastromag@gmail.com.
If you submitting something for the Chronicles of the Old World (the Fantasy version of the Mag), use thefantasymag@gmail.com. Accidentally sending it to the regular address isn’t the end of the world; nothing a few clicks and the Forward button can’t fix.
I believe that covers everything I wanted to mention. As always, if you have questions/comments/feedback, send an email to theastromag@gmail.com. I check that address’s inbox frequently, so expect a relatively quick reply!
