New News: Screen shot, Fantasy Mag and Datasheets
Good afternoon/evening, ladies and gentlemen.
I wanted to throw up another sneek peek which shows how the battle report looks (hint: it’s awesome). The maps were made with Battle Chronicler software, and the armies are two fully painted armies: Chaos Space Marines and Space Marines. I’m very excited about this, as the format means battle reports will be something that can be done and look good!
Also included is some tinkering I did while waiting for Dow: Dark Crusade to load for Issue 7’s cover… or what I wish it could be! The portrait style doesn’t mesh well with the landscape format of the Mag. It’s hard to find good Warhammer art in a landscape format; if you know anyone who is an artist, see if they’ll do something for us. With our ever growing readership, it’s a good way to get their name out if they’re interested in commissions and the like.
Oh, those Land Raiders with lights? They’re part of the miniature showcase (another segment that will hopefully become a regular feature), and there’s more where that came from

Excited yet?
I need to mention the Fantasy edition of the Mag. japhelio has told me he hasn’t gotten but one or two complete articles in. I highly encourage any of you who dabble in Fantasy to any degree to write an article for Chronicles of the Old World. If you have any questions about writing an article and the like, email me at theastromag@gmail.com or japhelio at thefantasymag@gmail.com. Remember, the deadline is February 1st, which is fast approaching!
I am working on gather several Apocalypse Datasheets from the Astronomican community to provide another bundle o’ datasheets. Send me an email with what you want to see in that bundle! If we don’t have it, there are some folks who are capable of punching out rules with relative ease.
I think that covers all the new news.
Thank you for your continued patience,
Consadine
More Cowbell!
Except instead of delicious, delicious ice cream, it’s two more screen shots from my laptop. Apologies for the disappointment.

Some article titles, some datasheet previews, editing on the Homebrew.
For Issue 6 we’re introducing a homebrew section. I’d love to see this take off to showcase the hard work of fans creating their own gaming material.

Jetbike article and piccies preview (lots of pics in this tutorial) and the cover for Fallen.
So soon…
Hopefully this is keeping you all intrigued (there is still a lot you all haven’t seen yet!).
Cheers,
Mr C
Such Is Life
Hello folks,
As much as I wish I were announcing the release of Issue 6 of the Astro Mag, such is not the case. Fret not, it really is on the way… to be fair, I do feel like the boy that cried wolf. The irony being that one of the sneak peeks is an editorial on Space Wolves.
Wait, sneak peeks? Why, yes citizen! It’s the least I can do for making you all wait this long. Just two quick screenshots in between editing proofs…

Here we’ve got the Space Wolves editorial as well as one of the pieces of artwork I hope will find its way into the Mag. Fingers crossed!
This is something I’m excited about. It’s a shame these images are in a portrait style, which doesn’t fit too well into the landscape format of the Mag. It’s still fun to see what we can do… perhaps even mesh two of these together? That would feel like cheating, but it might work… if you are an artist or know someone who is, or can point us to someone who has posted a gallery of Warhammer pictures, please email us at theastromag@gmail.com! We’ll be glad to hear from you.
There’s a quick update for the Fantasy edition of the Mag, now with a fancy sounding title: Chronicles of the Old World. The deadline for articles has been pushed back through the end of the first day of February. The email address has not changed: thefantasymag@gmail.com. Ideas are already being tossed around the Astronomican boards; one in particular about a campaign map sounds like it could be fun. Don’t let that intimidate you from sending something in, though! We really want to kick this project off with a bang.
Also, we’ve got another addition to our “List o’ Links”: a 40k podcast titled Imperial Vox Cast. A biweekly show, the IVC crew pick an army for the episode and go at it. The discussion is pretty solid; at the end of every show I know about more ways to run armies out of whatever codex was the subject of the show. It’s free and makes for a good listen while you’re painting/gluing/sculpting/hobbying. Check it out!
As always, please send all feedback (good and bad), articles, artwork, inquiries and issues to theastromag@gmail.com. Is there something we shouldn’t do anymore? Do you have an idea for an article or an addition to the Mag but aren’t sure on the specifics? Is there anything blatantly obvious that we could be doing better? What would you like to see in the Mag? Do email your thoughts in; I check the Mag’s inbox at least once a day and I do read every email that floats on in.
With that, I bid thee well,
-Mr C
Another Update: 40k Articles, Fantasy (wait, what?!)
Hello gentlemen and the occasional lady!
The title of this post might be a bit confusing. Why’s that? Well, I mentioned Fantasy because, well… read on, first there’s some Issue 6 to chat about.
We’ve been getting some articles and pictures for Issue 6. The editorial team (only three of us now) is very excited about this uptick in submissions. Yet, it’s never enough! If you have an idea for an article and want to send it in but can’t make the deadline for Issue 6 (December 21st!), email it to theastromag@gmail.com and we can use it in future issues.
On that note, articles aren’t the only thing that we’re looking for! If you have a miniature/miniatures that you want to showcase, send pictures to the email address given in the previous paragraph. Same with artwork and fiction; we’ll review every submission!
Now, onto this Fantasy nonesen– er, I mean, business.
Japehlio from the Astronomican forums is heading up the Fantasy edition of the Astro Mag. It’ll be like the current Mag, but all about Fantasy instead of 40k. The same submission guidelines and the like apply to this project, and you’ve got until January 22nd to submit your article/picture(s)/fiction to thefantasymag@gmail.com. Got questions? Email them to thefantasymag@gmail.com and it’ll get squared away.
Right, I believe that is all there is new to share. I’ll throw up another post when we get closer to the deadline for Issue 6 submissions as a reminder that, well, the deadline is coming up.
As always, if you have anything to say about the Mag, email me at theastromag@gmail.com.
Cheers all,
Consadine
Update: Good News!
As you are all probably aware, there have been a few delays in the production of Issue 6 of our beloved Mag. This is because of a low number of submissions to the projected Pre-heresy theme.
The editorial team has decided to push the release back to early January and include a Christmas theme also.
Anybody who can knock together a Christmassy model or an article for the mag is invited to submit their work for publication by the 21st of December 2009. All efforts will be greatly appreciated and it will be your chance to see your name in the Webs best 40k Webzine!
Please submit the article/photos to theastromag@gmail.com between now and the 21st, the earlier the better.
Again, the new deadline is the 21st of December!
How is this good news?
We have had a good showing so far from the Astronomican forums in the short span of a day, and this Issue is looking to be a promising one!
Thank you all for your continued support and patience; it would be an injustice to deliver a subpar product.
Cheers all around,
-Consadine
Issue 6 Artwork
Alright folks, real life has been beaten back once again; the Mag will be out next week!
In the meantime, here’s some of the artwork that we’ll be using in Issue 6.

Thanks to Noldofinve and kanartist (both of whose work you see above) who are letting us use their work for the Mag.
Cheers all,
Mr C
Assembly Update
Things are chugging along just fine here at Astro Industries. There have been a few unexpected delays, but what would life be without some sticks through the spokes, hm?
Work has already begun on getting articles together for Issue 7, believe it or not. A few things need to be worked out in regards to the details of the issue as a whole, but it is already very exciting to see interest springing up on the homefront (the Astronomican forums, of course).
I would like a minute of your time, however. In the comments, please post what kind of articles you would like to see in the Mag. While we try to gather as much as we can take, it does help to know what you, the reader, wants, so we can provide a wholesome and enjoyable E-zine time and time again. Perhaps weapon conversions is something you’re after, or alternate color schemes for Eldar Aspect Warriors. Help us to help you, and it won’t take much time to do so!
Thank you for your continued patronage! ![]()

Posted by Arkaedin in Competition, Issue 6 on October 15th, 2009
Well the results from the 31st Millenium contest are in and we have our winners. Thanks to anyone who entered!
First place was Gregory with his Lucius model. A great conversion with an appropriate paintjob was what vaulted this entry into first place (and $50 from Miniwargaming!)

In Second place and winner of $35 from Miniwargaming is Caleb’s Tyranid Wyvern:

The Deadline for Issue 6 articles is on the 18th, so make sure you get them in!

I regret to say that we did not receive nearly as many articles as hoped for.
Thus, the new deadline for articles is October 18th!
Remember to submit articles, artwork and anything else to theastromag@gmail.com so the content can be sent to the respective editor.
If you have any questions, leave them in the comments and I will answer them ASAP.
